Paying and moving
Your money waits until the name is yours.
The buyer's payment never passes through us. A licensed escrow company holds it, and lets it go only after you tell them the name has turned up where you wanted it.
Four steps, in order.
A short agreement
The name, the figure, who pays escrow (we do) and where the name goes. One page, in plain English, before any money moves.
Payment to escrow
You open the escrow transaction, check its terms and pay by the method it offers. Your card or bank details go to escrow alone.
The transfer
Once escrow confirms the funds, we move the name to your registrar. Usually within a working day; some registrars take longer.
Release
You check that the name shows under your login and works. Then, and not before, escrow pays us.
Questions people ask at this stage.
- Will I have to open another registrar account?
- Not at all. If you already manage your current address somewhere, the new one can sit in the same account. If you have no account yet, we will suggest a few well-known registrars and you choose.
- What is an auth code?
- A one-time password that lets a name move between registrars. If your registrar asks for one, we send it to you directly once escrow has the funds.
- How long does it take?
- Most transfers finish within a few working days of payment. We do not promise an hour, because the registrars involved set part of the pace.
- And if something fails?
- Should the transfer prove impossible, escrow sends every dollar back. You are never left having paid for something you do not hold.
- Can I keep the purchase quiet?
- Yes. Who bought what stays between you and us; we never publish it.
